My Journey To A Better Me ~ Down 30 Pounds

On November 12 after a couple of divine moments I made the decision to lay aside some weight. For years I have carried a great deal of weight. Several times I would visit my doctor and her response would always be the same. "What's wrong?" Over the years several things have been wrong but it's time to leave those things aside and move on from it. So as I'm writing this post, on Febuary 7, I am down 27lbs. Wow!!! I'll make this post public when I reach my goal of losing 30lbs so I only have 3lbs left. Yay!!!

I wanted to share some things that have been helpful to me on this journey:

*God - we talk a great deal and I have learned that His presence is invaluable at this stage of my life.
*Water - Drink more of it. I love really cold water with crushed ice. Sometimes I have infused water, using oranges or cucumbers.
*Stevia - I use this sweetner for tea.
*Bread - I have not had a sandwich with a bun in a very long time. Times when it is hard to resist bread? When I dine at Red Lobster or The Capital Grille. Lol (Those are cheat days for real.)
*Protein - I love eggs, fish and chicken. Chicken and fish are almost rarely breaded when I eat it now and it's cooked or broiled using olive oil.
*Salad - I try to have one everyday and I really love Wendy's salads. There is such an variety and you can purchase them in half portions.
*Wendy's - I love them so much I had to mention them twice. I told you that I have not eaten bread much. I can go to Wendy's and order a #1 with no bun and add bacon and be satisfied. I do this with several of their sandwiches, mainly with their burgers.
*McDonald's - Their Southwestern Ranch salad is so good!! Recently they've added the option to have a salad instead of fries with your meal. So imagine this. A quarter pounder with cheese, no bun, add salad, and a diet coke. Yep! That's what I order.
*Junk Food - I don't even think about it.
*Baked Goods - I've discovered my weakness. Cake and ice cream. (Sigh) This area I need to work on but I'm patient with myself. So, when it's presented I either eat in small portions or I just take that day as a complete loss. Especially if chocolate ice cream is involved. [Ok, after having dinner at my pastor's home I have to add to my weaknesses, banana pudding and pound cake cupcakes.]
*Green Vegetables - They are my friends.
*Pecans, peanuts, and almonds - I've learned that I have to keep my stash with me so that I won't veer off track. My co-worker asked me one day why was I counting my pecans. Lol. #thisisnotagame
*Atkins - I refer to their site often. I can't say that I follow it completely but I definitely use their site for information and encouragement.

It's hard to list everything but I wanted to share some of what is helping me. I'll be sharing more as the weeks come. This journey is blessing me in many ways and I pray that this post blesses you. Thanks for celebrating my weight loss of 30lbs today.

Hebrews 12:1King James Version (KJV)

12 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
