Today's Topic: Desire God
Author: Jerry Savelle
Verse(s): Psalms 37:4
Today's Confession: I was born to be a blessing!
Devotional:
"Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart." Psalm 37:4
God knows the very desires of your heart. When He knows that you are there to love and serve Him and that you desire Him above all others, you will not have to ask Him for anything. He knows what is in your heart, and He will cause the blessings to come on you and overtake you.
"For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth. The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts." Psalm 10:3,4
You don't need to go around confessing what you need all the time. If you begin giving your life to others, your needs will be met.
"He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them." Psalm 145:19
You were born both to be a blessing and to be blessed. But most of all, you were born to desire God above everything else.

Do You Wanna See My Scars?
Do you wanna see my scars?
Sitting here just open to thoughts of bliss,
Sitting here wondering can that man really handle this?
Handle the parts that's broken
The parts that may seem hopeless.
Reading those words over and over
Wishing tonight you could just come closer.
To listen to my voice and hear it in my heart.
So I can tell you
When it all fell apart.
How I felt alone
Felt like I was nothing
How I felt so sad
Damn, those days were something.
And you maybe right
Those parts are healed
But there's that part that is not often revealed.
How I stay alone
Afraid to try again
Just to myself afraid to trust men
Content in my shell
No worries about heartache
Another brother leaving me
Just too much to take.
Wishing my boys could see me happy
The concern in their eyes
When they check after me
Some days are good
Some not
Nearly broke my heart when that last one got caught.
Probably for the best that he and I are now apart.
Made way for the man who offered to see my scars.

That Load Isn't Mine To Carry
We, I believe, know who we are at the core.
I believe that at the core most people are good people.
Our families have poured into us
Whether it's higher learning, a classical education, a love for the arts or athletics.
But as we grow we often stray from the dreams our families had for us.
We want to do our own thing with whoever and whenever.
Not given thoughts to what thus saith the Lord, soul ties or unplanned births.
So then we have a price to pay for our free will.
Bills, bills and more bills.
Sacrificed time and energy.
The only way to deal with that stress is to wear a mask like,
You got it going on but in reality you don't.
You're broken, but refuse to admit it, refuse to deal with it.
To admit it, you would have to stop and see yourself. Flaws and all.
To admit your brokenness you have to drop the mask and get transparent.
Though you won't do that. You don't want to deal with you.
Instead people tend to put that brokenness where it doesn't belong.
You want to give it to others who don't deserve your unwanted stuff.
Now the other person has to be brave enough to tell you your truth as they see it.
We're blessed to be a blessing.
Sometimes it's necessary to call a spade a spade.
Oh! And by the way that load, that you've accumulated over the years, isn't mine to carry.
What you won't do is try to give me something that doesn't belong to me so that you feel better about your scattered damaged pieces.
My God said every good and perfect gift comes from above.
Again, that load isn't mine to carry.
So, I've returned it to it's sender.

My Favorite Kappa
Today as many distinguished gentleman of Kappa Alpha Psi celebrate Founders Day I have to shout out my favorite Kappa, Alex.
I think Alex knew his junior year of high school that he wanted to pledge. He had been exposed to amazing mentors who are a part of the fraternity.
It's been cool watching him go through this process. The first time I saw him stroll I was like "Ok then!!" Then I saw him shimmy and I thought "Oh my!" lol I often think about the fact that I regret that I didn't pledge so I'm glad he followed through with his decision.
I'm very proud of him and to be honest I kinda like being a mom of a gentleman of Kappa Alpha Psi.

The Sisterhood ~ Am I My Sister's Keeper?
Last Sunday my cousin, yes you Lora, texted me to watch The Sisterhood. She told me it was about women of the church. I'm thinking it's a documentary on the women of the church and how they have impacted it. I missed the show but she told me it came back on at eleven. It's Christmas break and I have nothing to do but stay up late and watch T.V. My friend Mike calls me and asked me what I was doing, I told him I was getting ready to watch The Sisterhood. His response was "Oh, I'm staying on the phone for this!" He apparently knew something that I didn't. The first ten minutes I sat and said nothing as he laughed uncontrollably and said "Arlinda, is your mouth on the floor?" Yes, it was.
I couldn't say anything for awhile. I'm saved. I go to church. I have girlfriends who are saved. I know some First Ladies. This was a bit much initially. Handcuffs, bananas, condoms and I vowed to continue watching. I believe what I was waiting for was that moment of someone giving me a Word for God. Yeah, I know, it's a reality show about First Ladies and how they have struggles like everyone else. Now they all had really nice homes and cars, yet one pastor discussed struggling with having one child and he didn't know about having another one. Another pastor had to decide between paying the light bill at home and at church but his wife owns a boutique. Hmm? Close the doors to the church where people come for healing and refuge but keep the boutique open? That must have been a difficult decision for real.
Now I can say that since my first viewing I have watched 3 additional times. I'm trying to get a general understanding of the vision of the program. Is it to uplift or tear down sisters. I mean it's entitled The Sisterhood but in that first episode I didn't feel that. I know with my girlfriends we support and uplift one another through both difficult and celebratory moments. And yes, Ms. Ivy we use scripture when we come together. None of us are First Ladies but we do know that you can't evangelize without using scripture even though most of us know scripture. Thanks to Ms. Ivy I also need to research 2 Timothy 1:2.
For my closest friend and I, it was Tara who spoke to our spirit. Man if I had the boldness of Tara I'd be speaking the Word of God all over the place. What she say? "My effectiveness is not questionable!" Amen! I think that as women we have to say to one another I need what you have to say to me and I won't knock you for using the Word, for the Word edifies and brings forth life and light. Let my toils and testaments bless other people when I am delivered from them.
So from now on when I'm going through I know that God will connect me to the women that say "You know what? I know I'm emotional and I know I'm hurt but you know what I need right now? I need a word of faith." Tell 'em Tara!!!!!!!!!!
Sisters, let's keep each other by praying and speaking life to each other. Am I my sister's keeper? Yes, I am..
