From My Brother's View ~ Tyler McKinley Class Of 2024

This past weekend my 3rd grade son's team Indy Hoosiers InouGsio played in the Coach T Classic in St. Louis, MO. That we were in the area was an awesome experience in itself, and yes we visited Ferguson, but what I realize after looking at the pics is even more awesome.

My older son Alex McGlothin has played basketball since kindergarten. Now at 22 he's had to deal with the emotions surrounding ACL surgeries and losing collegiate scholarships. Imagine tearing your ACL the summer before your senior year. This last surgery has taken him off the court for nearly two years. So when people started requesting Tyler to play I was concerned about Alex.

I kept wondering how this would impact him. You have to understand that the court was where Alex dealt with a great deal of stress over the years and to not have that has been very difficult as a mother to watch. But then something happened.....

All of the things that Alex knows and completely understands he began to pour into his little brother. Alex started going to all of Tyler's practices and working him out 2 or 3 times a week. He makes sure that Tyler is fit and ready to play in regular season games and tournament play. It wasn't a year ago that Tyler was losing his desire to play and now they have both met in this incredible space of understanding and expected achievement.

Tyler is not the same player he was in 2nd grade. Recently we were in Lexington and someone said, "Who's working with Tyler?" Parents began to seek out who was with him to find out who was training him. Now a whole world of different opportunities are opening up for Alex and he's praying for the direction to start his own company to train youth for basketball. Isn't God simply awesome!!!

Last Saturday, at 7:40am (let that sink in), I watched Alex watch Tyler prepare for the first game. It was nearly breathtaking to see the adoration they have for each other and how important it is for them to have each other. Once home Alex came to me and said, "Ma, Tyler is going to have more opportunities than I had. I'm gonna make sure he's ready."

The sky is the limit from his brother's view and from a mother's view all things are working together.

Morning Manna March 9, 2015 ~ I'm A Witness, No Never, No Never

Yesterday the Praise Team blessed up with a song by Todd Dulaney, Pulling Me Through. I love that song because it assures us that God will never leave us. God will never walk out on us. I have to ask this question at 7 o'clock in the morning. Have you ever been left? Left with a broken and hurting heart and spirit. Left wondering if you would ever trust or love again.

At some point in our lives someone has left us or made us feel left out. It hurts. You wonder "What is wrong with me?" "Why me?" Your confidence takes hits. You put up walls and you don't let people get close to you. Maybe it's just me, but when I was left I hurt so bad, I couldn't even think straight. In those dark moments the only thing I had was God, not realizing that was all l needed.

In Deuteronomy 31:6 We hear Moses talking to Israel he tells them

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” NIV Version

The NLT version says

So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

You see not only will God not walk out on you or leave you but where you are going He doesn't want you to be afraid because;

1. He's gonna go with you
2. He's already gone ahead of you. He knows your outcome and He knows it works for your good.

His word tells us to be strong, it tells us to be courageous. It tells us not to panic. #keepcalmmyGodhasthis If you panic and get terrified it adds nothing to your life. O let your faith be great!!!

So in your current situation God is pulling you through, just as the songwriter says. Lord it was You pulling me through. He won't abandon you in your life at this point. And my God is so cold with it that He will walk you through a situation that He has already been through. Now, which one of your friends gonna do that for you?  Not many. But there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.

The blessing of these moments is that you come out. You come out better than you were before. You trust God more, you understand Him enough to say to the next adversity, "If He brought me through it before, He'll do it again." Psalm 37:25 tells us I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.

Not only will God not leave you but He'll make provisions for you and your family during trials and tribulations. Rent or mortgages will be paid. Utilities won't be shut off. There will be enough food in the refrigerator, not just for your family. But there will be more than enough to bless others. Car notes will be paid. Finances will flow in ways that you can only say, "God did that!" How do I know? I'm a witness that God will not walk out on you. No, never. No, never. I've seen it first hand for myself. If He did it for me, He's gonna do it for you. That is the kind of God that we serve. What's the saying? If He's blessing my neighbor, then He's in my neighborhood.

You see, I've always wanted to have a neighbor just like you. I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you. So, let's make the most of this beautiful day. Since we're together we might as well say..

Let's Go Ahead and Pray

God we thank you for another day to do your will. We thank you for blessing us and keeping us even when we felt unworthy. I ask for special blessings for everyone on this call and that each person will have a kingdom impact on every person they encounter this week. Lord we thank you for never leaving us, for never abandoning us and for blessing us beyond measure.  We thank you for staying with us through our dark times and lifting us up to be a blessing to others. Your word tells us that you will never leave us or forsake us and for that we are eternally grateful. Now let us go forth with our day, with our week knowing that you are right there with us at every step of the way.

In Jesus' name we pray amen.
