Step My Game Up

The month of April has truly been amazing for me. This last week, in particular, has truly shown me how faithful God is to me when I completely turn over my adversities to Him. I don't really think I knew how deep the hurt was in my life and in my heart but God is a healer. Not only does He heal but He also restores.

Now that April has presented all things anew I have made a personal decision. I have decided to step my game up. Over the past four years I have endured so much heartache and disappointment. I was just getting up everyday and going through the motions. Now I get up with a purpose. God's purpose. He has blessed me with opportunities to impact children and their families throughout my community. I have a responsibility to uphold. To whom much is given much is required. He has given me so much.

Recently at my church's anniversary the guest minister shared this thought "We all are valuable, none of us are necessary." I know that I am valuable in my various talents and gifts but I also know that if I don't use those gifts and talents someone else will.

My time is now, to be at my best, professionally, spiritually, physically, emotionally, and financially. Enough has time been spent being comfortable. The time is now to show my value and worth to the world.

I invite you to watch me soar as I Step My Game UP!!!!!!

It Already Is

Yesterday I ran into a young lady that I have known for a little over six years. She spotted me driving down a street and walked a block to where I parked to say hello to me. We sat, while I waited for my son's practice to end, and talked about her life. She had a newborn son and had recently moved into the area. She was very upbeat about the course her life was going. She was in a relationship that she was happy about. Her income would be picking up soon, she hoped to have a new apartment and a new school for her older son to attend.

As she sat and told her story I was wondering if she knew that life had more to offer her than what she wanted. So after listening to her for nearly 10 minutes I asked the question "What is the plan for your life?" Her response threw me for a loop. She stated, "It already is." That told me that she wasn't going to strive for anything more than what she had and that was cool for her. It wasn't cool for me. It's not cool for me.

Each day that I wake up I hope that I am impacting some young person to want more for their lives and for their children's lives. I teach my sons to dream big and to desire the best. I bring that very thought process into my classroom. Whether in my lesson plans or my famous "lectures" I want young people to see beyond their present circumstances and believe that they can be successful achievers.

I strive for that each day.

Today I Decide

What a wonderful day today has been. I think this wonderful feeling began on Saturday as I eagerly anticipated seeing Fred Hammond in concert at the Health Expo. All morning I was wired and ready for the day to begin at six in the morning. On my way there I was shocked as I looked into the eyes of the past and realized that the pain was no longer there, nor were the tears. I was able to look into those eyes and say I am okay and I hope you are too.

Since that moment I have felt a sense of upliftment like a load was released from me. I can't even tell you about all of the blessing that have fallen on my home this week. There is a song that contains lyrics stating, "I just can't tell it all." I will say that the surprise of the day was when my older son told me that he won 3rd place in baking contest, of 30 contestants. Wow! I really didn't expect that.

Today I decide to expect the unexpected. I decide to increase my expectations of myself and others. I decide to no longer trust my heart to anyone who is not trustworthy. I decide to release that which does not belong to me and to expect God's best for me.

What will you decide today?
